GLOW
At The Grove, we believe everyone deserves to be heard, valued, and respected. Monthly, we compile information to help you stay informed and tips to help you reach your health goals. We thank you for entrusting us with your care.

Swim Safety

We want to underline how important it is for everyone to swim safely this summer, but especially for kids and their parents. Swimming becomes a well-liked pastime as the weather warms up, but it's important to be aware of the risks. Precautions must be taken because drowning is still a major cause of unintentional injury-related deaths. Children should always be under parental supervision when near or in water, using the proper flotation devices, and taking swimming lessons to improve their aquatic skills. Children must be taught the risks of swimming alone and instilled with the habit of always swimming with a companion. In order to prevent recreational water contamination, we also urge everyone to be aware of water quality and hygiene. By following these safety guidelines, we can all enjoy a safe and memorable summer swimming season. Check out the YMCA in Coppell for a swim lesson schedule!

Bugs

In particular during the summer when outdoor activities are at their highest, The Grove Family is aware of the necessity of bug spray and the importance of tick awareness. An essential line of defense against bothersome insects and any diseases they can spread is bug spray. Applying an efficient repellent to exposed skin and clothes that contains chemicals like DEET or picaridin is crucial. The capacity to spot ticks and knowing what to do if one is discovered on your body are equally crucial. It is ideal to routinely check for ticks after being outside, especially in grassy or forested areas. A tick should be swiftly and carefully removed if it is found. Use fine-tipped tweezers to capture the tick as close to the skin's surface as you can and draw up steadily. If you are able to remove the tick, we can send the tick in for testing to see if it was a carrier of disease.  It's also essential to keep an eye out for any symptoms of illness or infection at the bite site in the days that follow, or if any high risk areas for lyme disease see your provider within 72 hours. We are here to offer advice, address any concerns, and provide essential care if you believe you may be suffering from a tick-borne illness. This summer, stay aware and take preventative measures to safeguard your family and yourself.

Menopause

Ladies, listen up! Menopause may come with its fair share of surprises, but let's not let unwanted hair take over our lives like an unruly houseguest. Enter laser hair removal, the superhero treatment that can save the day (and our sanity). As our bodies go through hormonal changes, we might notice some unexpected hair growth in places we never thought possible. It's like Mother Nature decided to play a practical joke on us! But fear not, my fellow menopausal warriors, because laser hair removal is here to zap those pesky hairs away. No more battling with razors or waxing mishaps—just a series of painless laser sessions that will leave you smoother than a dolphin gliding through the water. So bid adieu to the unwanted chin hairs and rebellious upper lip fuzz, and embrace the freedom that comes with ditching the tweezers. Laser hair removal: because menopause is already crazy enough without having to deal with a hairy situation!
